When I started meditating and doing yoga at home I felt way better about the world around me, I felt like I had more control over my emotions and over my life in general.
Starting your morning well can lead you to be more active, focused and to have more energy throughout the day. When I meditate first thing in the morning I feel like I have my ideas in the right place, and things that would normally frustrate me or make me feel any bad emotions don’t affect me as much. I think that’s how it works for me because when I close my eyes and take deep breaths I think about everything good that I have in my life. I think about my husband, my family, my house, how lucky I am for having an education that many people can’t have, how safe I feel at home, how my hobbies make me feel good etc. You start your day being so grateful for all the good things that you won’t let small bad things bother you.
At least try. Not everything works for everyone, but if you never try you will never know. I used to think of meditation as being stupid (I swear!) and something that only Monks would do. I was so ignorant when it comes to this. When I decided to try it for the first time I realized how wrong I was. Working your mind to be healthier will never be a stupid thing to do. Taking 5 minutes of your day to think of everything you appreciate should be a rule. It is for me now.
One really good app that I’ve been using is Simple Habit. They have the free and the premium versions, I’ve been using only the free version so far and it’s enough for me for now.
That’s how the app looks like on iOS. You don’t need anything else. You don’t need a mat, you don’t even need this app, to be honest. All you need is some silence and an open mind.
